Hotel Review: Sofitel So Singapore
So Cosy Room (Basic Category) When in Sofitel, "expect the unexpected". Every corner of the room is literally filled with surprises. Its infusion of French gracefulness, Singapore vibe and modern technologies has made Sofitel So Singapore one of the coolest and gorgeous hotel in the main CBD area. Besides that, you can easily find incredible rates, especially during their occasional flash-sales where you can find rates below S$200 for the basic category.
So Cosy Room
The So Cosy rooms in Sofitel So Singapore are approx. 24 sqm in size, featuring a French style design room along with bits of local elements. One of the things I love the most is how Sofitel uses modern technologies to amaze the guest.
All rooms in Sofitel have an automation control system whereby you can control the lighting, room temperature and curtains on their Ipad. Additionally, the large screen HD TV are connected to the internet and you can use wireless keyboard to surf the net on TV.
To provide a good night sleep, the room comes with a king sized bed and 6 different pillow choices. Samples are available at the check-in desk. Evening turn-down service can be requested by calling the Sofitel "solution centre" from the their Iphone.
Looking up from the bed is the light box at 3m high on the ceiling, inspired by French cupolas At So Cosy room, there are 4 different options of mode setting - Welcome, Good Morning, Relaxing and Good Night.
Complimentary Mini-bar
Of all the hotels that I have stayed in SIngapore, I think Sofitel is the most generous one. It is really rare to find hotel that provides complimentary mini-bar items. At Sofitel So Singapore, I think their mini-bar items are very extensive, considering the fact that everything is free and can be replenished. Some highlights from the mini-bar includes Illly Espresso machine and snacks like spicy tapioca chips, mixed nuts, energy bar and M&M chocolates.
As a Silver member of AccorHotels program, we also received a savory snack on the first day. Believe it or not, Sofitel So Singapore can do better Peranakan/Malay snack than most "Macik" in Singapore. My most favorite is the Onek-Onek with molten Gula Melaka inside. Bathroom and Amenities
Although the bathroom at So Cosy room does not have a bathtub, it has a big walk-in shower with rainshower feature. The shower amenities in Sofitel are custom-made, which emits their signature "Urban Forest" scent - a blend of spices, flowers and woody fragrance.
Bottomline
Sofitel So Singapore is by far the most generous hotel I have ever stayed in Singapore. Beside the typical free Wifi access, they provide an extensive selections in their complimentary mini-bar. For high tier members of AccorHotels program, they also provide complimentary Paranakan snacks and welcome drinks at their lounge bar. The rooms at Sofitel So Singapore have a great infusion of modern technologies and vibrant design, which I think many hotels with good branding are lacking of. What is best about Sofitel So Singapore is how affordable it is (if you manage to catch their occasional promotions where you can find rates below S$200).
