Part 1 - Poolside Suite, Singapore Staycation
Did you know that this building at Scotts Road is listed as one of our national monument? It was actually built in 1900 and started as a club for the elite German community over 100 years ago. Soon after, it was bought over by 3 Jewish brothers and named it as Goodwood Hall, which they later turned it into Goodwood Park Hotel.
Besides its distinguish appearance, it also steals the spotlight for their famous pastries and afternoon high tea. If you hope for a staycation that differs from the rest, yet rejuvenating and not being detached from the bustling shopping district, Goodwood Park Hotel should be at the top of your list.
In Part 1, I will share my staycation experience in one of their suite. Following this post I will write about their famous afternoon high tea buffet at L' Espresso, which is coming up in the next few days.

Unlike the modernize style most 5 stars hotels adopt, this 48-55m² poolside suite features a soft European Vintage touch, incorporating floral prints, natural colour tones and classical western wooden furniture. This is probably not the largest hotel junior suite I have seen. However, it is definitely spacious enough for a family or a small vintage themed birthday party.
This poolside suite is like a resort. The name of this suite says it all. It gives you the instant access to the main swimming pool through the second entrance of your suite. One thing I like about this suite is that it allows you to open up the windows to enjoy some fresh air and breeze while enjoying the complimentary sugar coated Macadamia nuts and tropical fresh fruits on the cushy sofa. Not to worry, your room will be well ventilated with your windows all opened. The 2 Classical English style ceiling fans are so strong that you will only set it to the lowest speed. If you wish for more privacy at night, you can close the louvered doors along the windows and your bedroom, making your space more confined and feel more secured. It is heart warming to be well greeted and taken care by a responsive service team. They are poised and well articulated. Requests over the phone are fulfilled in good time. However, they are not really in sight at the common areas except the main lobby.
When you are back in the evening feeling sticky, sweaty and maybe slightly stinky, isn't nice when you can use as much shower gel as you like during a hot shower and have a new set of towels that are dry and smelling fresh? There is a evening turn-down service that prepares your king-size bed for the night and replenish all amenities. Their Molten Brown bath amenity set ensures that you skin are well moisturized and smooth. A 300ml Molten Brown shower gel cost about 30USD.
There are two outdoor swimming pools in Goodwood Park Hotel. The poolside suite is along the main swimming pool, which are more lively and sunny. Otherwise, the Balinese-inspired Mayfair pool offers a peaceful atmosphere for a relaxing swimming.
