Part 2- L'Espresso English Afternoon Tea Buffet
If you are still thinking of a place for your weekend date, impress your companion at L'Espresso for an afternoon indulgence.
Their English afternoon tea is surprisingly amazing. Why do I say so? I have always heard about Goodwood Park Hotel's afternoon tea buffet at L'Espresso. However, I never go for it previously as their buffet spread did not looking appealing at one glance. When I finally get to tried it, it totally exceeded my expectation. The choices may look limited, but the quality is definitely there, One should not simply miss out their foie gras, it is just heavenly delicious.
Look at these little beauties. The prawns were cooked to its perfection. The salmon tasted as fresh as it looks. All the garnish were not just for decoration. They really complemented well and enhanced the flavors. The Foie Gras was piquant and absolutely delicious. You should never miss this out. You could already smell its freshness and the unique aroma from the plate. As you start to bite, the whole flavor just burst in your mouth. It was creamy and rich, just perfect with the crispy base.
The alluring scones covered with golden crust were the best scones I had so far. Those I had before in some famous chains were either lack of taste or too dry. These scones in L'Espresso come in 3 flavors - raspberry, raisin and sugar coated. They are crusty from the outside and decently moist in the inside. They are definitely worth the fat you get later on.
Together with the scones is the Bread Pudding which comes with vanilla sauce at the side. Not really a fan of Bread Pudding, more of a fan of Creme Brulee next to it instead! The Creme Brulee was delicious but it could be better if they give it a little more flame.
If you wish for something light to start with, there is a good selections of cold cuts and greens. I like it that the Ham and Salami were sliced thin that you could see through some lights. They taste better in thin sliced in my opinion. I had some really good thin sliced ham in Frankfurt. It takes some effort and skill to cut it that thin.
They also have an assortment of hot savories which includes the French Brioche, Baked Salmon Couscous, Ratatouille and Beef Lasagna. The Baked Salmon Couscous was a little disappointment as I find it a little too dry. I did not try the rest as I started to feel some weight. At that moment I realized my initial perception was wrong. The choices are not limited, they are more than what I can handle!
It was a challenge for me to pick these dainty desserts for the finale. Oh god, Moment like these you would wish to have a bigger appetite like Moses Lim. Each of these tiny monsters were delicate. You could find small little black dots in your Vanilla Mousse and ice cream. They are actually Vanilla extract.
These Switzerland Mövenpick ice cream come in 3 basic flavours- Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry.
