Singapore Airlines Long Haul Business Class
SQ327 MUC-SIN Boeing 777-300ER This was one flight that I wished it could have been longer. I was on a gigantic seat- the largest Business Class seat in the industry; being well fed and taken care by a set of detail-oriented crew who never kept my glass empty. Most of the things that I touched were "Givenchy" labelled. The whole experience onboard was probably a little too good for a Business Class.
Flight Details
SQ327 Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport - Singapore Changi Aiport Dep: MUC 13:00 Arr: SIN 07:40 (+1) Total Duration: 11Hrs 45Mins Aircraft type: Boeing 777-300ER Seat: 15K (1-2-1 Configuration)
The Seat
This long haul business class seat is 30 inches wide, fitted in 1-2-1 configuration. giving a direct aisle access and great flexibility in positioning myself comfortably. As mentioned earlier, this is the widest business class seat in the industry and it is able to fit in 2 people. Sounds amazing right?
This unique seat also functions differently from other business class seat product in the industry. For additional comfort, the seat has a dedicated sleeping surface, which the passengers or the crew have to flip the seat-back down to transform into a fully flat bed. For an angled-recline, there is a control at the side of the seat.
Other Seat Features
The long haul business class seat feature a 15.4 inch wide LCD screen, along with a in-seat power supply and USB ports at the side of the screen. Additionally, there is also a in-seat vanity mirror with side lighting, which bring great convenience for passengers. There is no need to stress about the hand carry and loose items as there are plenty of storage area in this seat. One beside the ottoman, two beside the seat, two beside the screen and one overhead compartment.
Pre-takeoff Service
Shortly after I settled down in 15K, a flight attendant in her blue Kebaya came to introduce herself and welcomed me onboard. I was then offered a pre-takeoff drink from her tray. Without hesitation, I picked the champagne out of the rest. Duh!
As the aisle started to clear up, the crew started with the main pre-flight service, coming row after row to offer the hot steamy towels, warm nuts and some newspaper and magazine. Just before the push-back, the crew who greeted me earlier dropped by again to check on me, asked for my choice of drink after the take-off. Since the first time she spoke to me, there was never a time she failed to address me by my last name. It was nice that the crew took the effort to remember the passenger's name.
After The Takeoff
Minutes after the flight reached the cruising level, the crew came with my drink and took my lunch order. I definitely love the window seat in business class. Each seat has 2 windows, offering a wide and spectacular view, especially if you are flying to/from western Europe where you get to see the alps.
Sliver Kris Sling - mix of gin ,Cointreau, orange juice, pineapple juice and CHAMPAGNE.
Business Class Lunch Service
For Suite/First, Business and Premium Economy class passengers, there is an alternative choice to the listed meal. The Book-the-Cook service enables passengers to pre-order a meal (exclusively created by SQ international culinary panel) at least 24hrs before the flight.
Just before the meal service began, the crew came to set the table. Givenchy, Givenchy Givenchy... In case you missed it, I mentioned earlier that most of the things I touched were "Givenchy" labelled. So which ones were from Givenchy? The tablecloth, the napkin, the glass, the utensil, the plates and the bowls; literately all the tablecloth and tableware for the meal service.
Prelude- Satay with onion, cucumber and spicy peanut sauce
Starter- Tuna carpaccio with mesclun and shaved parmesan
Main- Lamb chops with mint jus, baby carrot, green bean and turmeric potato mash., along with some selections from the bread basket and a small bottle of extra virgin olive oil.
Finale- Strawberry ice cream with strawberry coulis
Finale- Fougerus, steinsaizkase and goat cheese served with grapes, fig, nuts and crackers.
Finale- Gourmet coffees & selection of fine teas, with pralines
The meal service was extensive and exquisite, in terms of plating and taste. There was no way to get hungry and unsatisfied on this flight. The crew also gave some recommendation of the choice of drink to go along with the meal. I would also like to highlight that their business class offer a vast range of beverage selection, serving some of their special creation and premium brands like TWG tea.
Business Class Meal and Beverage Menu
Amenities and Turn-down Service
Shortly after the meal service, the cabin was dimmed down for the night. Since I was so full, thanks to the delicious meal earlier, I requested for a turndown service so that I could lie down. Burp~ While the crew was preparing my bed, I decided to visit the lavatory.
Don't you think the lavatory looks somewhat like a celebrity makeup room? The amenities for grooming were well-stocked in the lavatory. Apparently, there was no amenity kit for business class. The hydration cream, eau de toilette, and face splash were from L'occitane. I am quite impressed that they even had the real hand towels.
When I returned to my seat, the bed was already beautifully laid out. Not only the tablecloth and tableware were from Givenchy, the pillows and blanket were also from Givenchy!
Just as I settled down in my bed, the crew dropped by to check on me and asked if she should give a wake me call for the breakfast service. Of course I am getting up for the full breakfast service!
It felt so good lounging on the wide bed, having all the space to myself. I was catching up some movies on their 15.4 Inch LCD TV, using their noise cancellation headset. The Krisworld Entertainment had some very recent movies which were in cinema just 3 months ago!
Hours later, my mouth got a little itchy. I needed something to munch on. This explains the bump I am carrying in front of me. As soon as I started flipping through the menu, the crew appeared at my side again, ready to take my order. How attentive!
Noodles with chicken and Chinese greens.
Yes. I said that I wanted something to munch on. But I got a little greedy after looking at the light bites menu, so I order something big. However, I did not manage to finish. It was really a huge serving.
Breakfast Service
After a few hours of nap, the cabin was lighted up. It was about less than 3 hours to landing. The cabin was about to commence the breakfast service. Time flies! I shouldn't have sleep so long.
Prelude- Fruit Platter and selections from the bread basket
Starter- Birchermuesli
Main- Spinach cheese souffle with beef sausage, capsicums and potato.
The whole meal service lasted for about one hour. If you were to ask for my favorite pick, I would say its everything!
Landing Into Singapore
Moments later, the pilot made his arrival announcement. I The plane was flying in from the west of Singapore. This is one of my favorite landing route as passengers on the left would be able to see the whole of Singapore. Unfortunately, I was on the right side of the plane, watching the sea while the flight was making its landing onto Singapore. It was definitely sad to leave the plane. I really enjoyed being pampered, eating nice meal and having all the space to myself.
This long haul business class product is available on A380, B777-300ER and selected B777-200ER
