Of all the Hilton hotels that I have came across, the room furnishing in Hilton Sukhumvit is by far the best I have seen. If you wish to be centrally located yet away from the bustling area, Hilton Sukhumvit can be a good option.
a. Executive Room
When we first arrived the hotel, we were escorted up to the executive lounge to do our check-in. Thanks to the Hilton Gold status, we managed to get an upgrade to the executive room and were granted the lounge access for our stay.
To be honest, I often feel that Hilton did not do very well if they market themselves as a luxurious brand. The aesthetic of several Hilton hotels are rather outdated and the service standard can varies largely from property to property. However, I am very impressed with Hilton Sukhumvit when it comes to aesthetic wise. Rooms and common areas are tastefully designed. I particularly like the art pieces that they have in this property. The combination of acrylic grey and dark wood also effectively elevates the elegance.
In terms of functionality, the rooms in Hilton Sukhumvit have all the basic features that a luxurious hotel should have - a good working desk, a large flat screen TV, music player speaker and room controls beside the bed. When it comes to technology, there is no 'wow' factor. It is something not to be expected in Hilton hotels from my experience. In times when technology is advancing at an exponential rate, I think Hilton would lose its competitive edge based on this factor.
The bathroom in the room is huge. There are 3 separated areas. Large amount of space is taken by the shower stall where there are rain-shower and the bathtub. If you like to take a long bath and shower, you would definitely love the bathroom. There is a TV speaker in the bathroom as well. The bathroom has an extensive range of amenities. Same to all other Hilton hotels, the amenities are from Peter Thomas Roth.
b. Executive Lounge
The lounge in Hilton Sukhumvit is one of the most beautiful one under their chain. As the lounge is located on the lower floor, it does not come with a great view. The space at the rooftop is reserved for their pool and gym. When you are in Thailand, I think it is difficult to experience bad service at premium hotels. At Hilton Sukhumvit, the service staff are professional. If you value privacy, you would like their service. However, I would prefer more if they are more spontaneous.
The executive lounge offers complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails and canepes. It is always a real struggle when you have lounge access in Bangkok. If you like go for some street food, I would recommend to skip the afternoon tea.
At Hilton Sukhumvit, guests with lounge access are not given an option to do complimentary breakfast at their restaurant. Nevertheless, there is a live kitchen to prepare the eggs that you would like them to be. Although the highlight was their evening cocktail and canapes, the food was rather a hit or miss. The selection was bad during the first night. The second night was beyond my expectation, when they had the Lobster Bisque, Goyza and many other delicious canepes.
c. Bottomline
In terms of aesthetic, Hilton Sukhumvit is definitely one of the most beautiful hotel under this brand. Like what I have expected, the service standard was good but nothing spectacular. If you are particular about the view, this hotel is not strategically positioned. The next time before you book your accommodation, do visit shopback to receive cashback.
